Profile Weight Calculator | Mass & Cost

One of AluCalc’s engineering modules: calculate profile/plate/tube mass from geometry and material density (including aluminum alloys), with optional kerf and nesting.

Profile Weight

Formula

m = ρ × V

Profile Weight: mass from geometry × material density.

Material density tablesASTM / EN for Al alloys when selected

Assumptions & limits

  • Nominal dimensions at ~20 °C
  • Kerf / nesting are optional production add-ons in this module
  • Mill certificates override handbook density for production quotes

Worked example — 10 mm plate, 1 m²

  • Sheet: 1000 × 1000 × 10 mm
  • Volume V = 10 000 cm³
  • Pick density from material list (e.g. steel ~7.85 or Al 6061 ~2.70 g/cm³)

m = ρ × V. Example: ρ = 2.70 g/cm³ → m = 27.0 kg for that plate.
